There are many different ways to catch a squirrel without harming it. There are several body-gripping traps, live traps, and tunnel traps that you can use. You should be able to catch a squirrel in a single day with one of these methods. Before you can begin, you must prepare the trap. First, you must cover the open end of the tube. You will then have to bring the squirrel to a field.

Body-gripping traps
Body-gripping traps are spring-activated lethal traps that are used to catch squirrels without harming them. These traps are usually too small to harm a squirrel, but a frustrated homeowner may try one anyway. Oneida-Victor, Inc., makes a wide range of body-gripping traps, which are often called “Conibear” traps. They look like a giant trap flipped upside down.
One way to use body-gripping traps to catch a rabbit, squirrel, or other small animal is to lure the animal into it by placing some bait inside. Set the trap along the animal’s path and wait. The animal will eventually fall into the trap, triggering the trap. It’s important to place the trap in the correct position to catch the animal without harming it. The trigger for a body-gripping trap is a wire or wires bended into various shapes. Alternatively, you can use bait sticks, pans, or other objects that are similar to a rabbit’s favorite.
Tunnel traps
If you’re looking for a squirrel trap that’s safe and will catch a squirrel without harming it, you’ve come to the right place. These traps are made of solid two-millimeter steel excluders that will only allow a specific species to enter the trap, like a squirrel. You can remove the excluders for cleaning and pre-baiting. These traps also have internal wire mesh baffles in front of the openings to ensure the squirrel is trapped correctly.
If you’re looking for a squirrel trap that won’t harm your pet, a body grip is an excellent option. This type of trap contains a lethal trap inside a small tunnel and is triggered when the squirrel sticks its head out of the tunnel. A body grip trap is not suitable for children or pets, and it is very grisly to remove the dead squirrel after use. These traps use bait, batteries, and electric currents to kill the rodent.
Tube traps
Squirrels are extremely intelligent, and they will easily avoid a trap if they have seen other rodents get caught in it before. Therefore, it is important to use a trap that the squirrel does not know and familiarize itself with. To make your squirrel-catching traps effective, you need to wait twenty to forty-eight hours after setting them before releasing them.
To set the trap, drill two holes in a two-foot length of PVC pipe. The holes should be 1/4 inch apart and positioned on opposite sides. The hole that has two holes will be the TOP end of the trap, so the end with two holes will point up when you put it together. Attach one end of the BASE pipe with a PVC adapter fitting. Then, screw the clean-out plug into the threaded portion of the adapter fitting. Next, screw a pipe cap over the opening.
Live traps
One of the best ways to catch a squirrel is to use live traps. These traps are relatively humane, and you can even release the squirrel if it doesn’t harm you. Remember that live traps should always be checked regularly and released far from the house, as the animal might scurry out. It is also important to make sure that you are not disturbing the animal while you check the trap.
Set the trap by pushing down the lock or lifting the door plate and the trigger arm will hook the trap. Make sure to check the trap at least twice a day and refill the bait. If the trap is left alone for too long, the animal might get bored and try to escape. Do not trap a squirrel for longer than 24 hours. If you do trap a squirrel, make sure it’s a male.
Inhumane to let a trapped squirrel suffer in the attic heat
While trapping squirrels may seem easy and convenient, putting one in the attic and letting it suffer for days or weeks can be inhumane. After all, the animal is already suffering in the heat. Additionally, trapping is inhumane because it may cause disease or pest infestations, and it is also inhumane to leave a trapped animal alone in the heat. Therefore, it is better to release a trapped animal into a large, wooded area, preferably at night. This will ensure that the animal has access to food and shelter and become part of the local population.
To keep the heat from trapping the squirrel, postpone your eviction notice for two weeks. If you suspect squirrels are living in your attic, try to avoid trapping them in the first place. If a squirrel is living in your attic, try to delay the eviction notice for a few days. Young squirrels need time to walk alongside their parents. You can seal the entrances to the attic with aluminium flashing, caulk, or foam sealants.
