If you want to help your flying friend stay healthy, you can also use calcium powder or add small amounts of dried fruit or mealworms to their diet. You can also give them some goat’s milk or esbilac. It is important to switch foods slowly, so wait at least one week for your squirrel to adjust to a new food.
The same goes for avocados. Although avocados contain high amounts of fat, your squirrel will be happy to eat them, but avoid the pit and skin, as they can be toxic for your flying friend. If you want to give your flying friend more calcium, you can also give them sunflower seeds. They will be delighted to eat them, but only in small amounts. Too much sunflower seed can cause a severe calcium deficiency.
Calcium supplementation
