Flying squirrel

The breeding season for flying squirrels occurs in April and May, with litters usually weighing three to four. A female will lay her eggs in her nest for 40 days. At birth, the young weigh less than an ounce and have no hair except short whiskers. They open their eyes and begin practicing their gliding abilities at 28 days old. Sometimes the female will move the litters to clean nests, usually in woodpecker holes.
Flying squirrel is not a game species in Kentucky
