Scrat the squirrel was a small, solitary rodent. He wandered the frozen land, hopping from one ice-covered mountain to another. During one of his ice-covered adventures, he stumbled upon an acorn. While looking for it, Scrat stomped on it, sending sharp pieces of ice flying. Ultimately, this small rodent broke off the giant glacier and created a boot-shaped Italian peninsula.
The saber-toothed squirrel made a memorable appearance in the Ice Age movie franchise. The squirmy squirrel, Scrat, survived being beaten by other creatures, being buried under an avalanche, and being run over by lava from an erupting volcano. Throughout the franchise’s two decades, Scrat has been through a lot, but has never faltered in his task of entertaining the audience.

If you’re a fan of science fiction, you might have heard of the saber-toothed squirrel. This rodent is as old as 231 million years. The species was discovered in Argentina near the site where two of the oldest dinosaurs lived, and resembles Scrat from the Ice Age movies. In the movie, he accidentally sends a meteor towards Earth, and it has to deal with a number of problems, such as the petty squabbling of humans and boring domestic dramas.
When the Ice Age was over, an animal named Scrat snuck onto a small ledge on a mountainside and deposited his prized acorn on it. When he dropped the acorn, he was struck by lightning and landed on a tropical island twenty thousand years later. The ice melted, and his prized acorn fell into the water. It took years for Scrat to get to the acorn. When it washed up on the shore, Scrat struggled to pull his prized acorn out of the ice.
Saber-toothed squirrel genus
The name saber-toothed squirrel came from a small mammal with two long pointed teeth, massive eyes, and a fox-like tail. Despite its name, these animals were not very intelligent, and their main diet consisted of acorns. Researchers now know that saber-toothed squirrels existed during the Ice Age.
