Who Was the Squirrel Lady in Mad, Mary, Mad? 
The title of this article may have surprised you, but it isn’t the only reason to go to the theater. The Crazy Squirrel Lady is a prominent character in the film, and it’s portrayed by Oscar winner Kathy Bates. There are other interesting characters too, such as Derek Theler, the ruthless attorney Gloria Allred, and Superman, who cheats on his girlfriend.
Kathy Bates
If you’ve seen “Mad, Mary, Mad” you know how funny it is. The two leads, Kathy Bates and Vince Vieluf, are both wonderfully goofy. Bates, as the squirrel lady, is delightfully ridiculous as a crazy, bumbling mother whose children are enslaved to her husband. Even the squeamish squirrels don’t like Bates! The film is a wacky comedy with flying cows, rocket cars, and a stud in Vince’s tongue.
The film is a twisted comedy about love and the human condition. The cast is excellent and the film’s humor is funny enough to be viewed by a wide audience. A rogue squirrel, an unfortunate cow, the psychotic Squirrel Lady, a “I Love Lucy” fan club bus, and an Adolf Hitler museum are all hilariously funny. The zaniness of the film’s plot is only outdone by the film’s wacky premise.
Milana Vayntrub
Five years ago, Milana Vayntrub played Squirrel Girl in the popular cartoon. She landed the role after competing with Anna Kendrick and Shannon Purser for the part. She has held the role for several other projects, including the Marvel Rising animated series. Despite the lack of an official MCU debut, Vayntrub has been a staple of commercials and a voice on TV shows.
Besides her work on TV, Milana also has numerous writing credits, including several for Robot Chicken and CollegeHumor Originals. In addition to her acting career, she has also been involved in political campaigns, highlighting the Black Lives Matter movement and encouraging voters to vote by mail. She has even endorsed Democratic candidates in the Georgia 2021 Senate runoff. Despite her varied roles, Milana Vayntrub has never sounded more comfortable embracing her animal role than in her current role as a television and movie star.
Derek Theler
As the lead in Marvel’s “New Warriors,” Derek Theler will play Mister Immortal, a super-powered character opposite the Avengers. He has the superpower of never dying, but hasn’t used it much. He also doesn’t have any real superpowers, like real strength or speed. However, he does have the ability to travel in time. Hopefully, he can use these powers to help others.
While the comics have inspired many of the characters in this show, the television series isn’t as widely known as the comics. Although the show was produced by Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz, the actors didn’t get many roles. Derek Theler was cast as Craig Hollis, with Milana Vayntrub playing Squirrel Girl. He later voiced the character in the Marvel Rising franchise. Other notable cast members were Jeremy Tardy as Dwayne Taylor, Cale Worthy as Robbie Baldwin, and Kate Comer as Deborah Fields/Debrii. In addition, Community alum Keith David played Ernest Vigman.
Mister Immortal
The story began with the introduction of a squirrel named Mister Immortal who, unlike other squirrels, was inexorably drawn to Speedball. Speedball had been drawn to the squirrel by his curiosity about Speedball’s appearance and personality, and he wanted to know more. The squirrel had a strange bond with the villain, and the two often fought in the comics. Mister Immortal also appeared in the film as a squirrel to his friends, including Tippy-Toe. Then, the two became lovers, and the Immortal returned to collect Terri O’Doughan’s soul.
In the next issue, Squirrel Girl and the U.S. Avengers joined the team, but were unable to defeat Mr. Immortal, and so were forced to change their name to GLC/Great Lakes Champions. The Squirrel Girl also joined the team in Avengers: X-Men. This group of super-heroes had been fighting the villains since their origins in the first Avengers issue. Afterwards, they were attacked by the Squirrel Girl, who viciously beat Deadpool. The GLC finally turned him over to the local authorities, who had no idea what to do with him. After this episode, Squirrel Girl sang “We Are the Champions” as a way to cheer up her fellow teammates.
Calum Worthy
Fans of Netflix’s Squirrel Girl can now see the first episode of the new series, which stars Calum Worthy as the titular character. The series is based on a 2018 book by Karin Slaughter and is set to run eight episodes. The new series will star Worthy as Speedball, as well as Matthew Moy as Microbe. Calum Worthy has been teasing a Squirrel Girl appearance for some time, so she should be a natural fit for the role.
The Squirrel Girl role is being billed as a leading role in the show. The actress originally landed the role after signing on to NBC’s Good Girls.
