Why Does a Squirrel Twist Its Tail and Then Scrub His Butt on the Ground? 
We all love our pet squirrels but what do we do when we notice our pet to twitch its tail and then scrub his butt on the ground? First of all, what exactly is this behavior? It could be due to calcium deficiency or Mange fungus, or it could be because he’s feeling uncomfortable. Either way, this strange behavior is worth a look.
Tookhees twitches his tail
The Tookhees are known for their daring trips through the woods. Tookhees will leave the doorway and shoot across the moss to an upturned root, sit on it, glide along the path, and then hide under a dead leaf. They will look back at the trail as if it were a maze.
Tookhees’ friends tell the story of how he’s a sociable creature. He will make many false starts to get to a safe place. As he searches for food, he will twitch his tail and scrub his butt on the ground. This means that the snakes will never find him. Prowlers may think he’s hiding his tail because it’s so small.
